Super Sophs Sparq Scores and Rankings

How Do You Rate?

The SPARQ Lacrosse Rating is an index of athleticism calculated from the results on a battery of four field tests of athletic performance: vert ical jump, combined with body weight to calculate peak leg power; 20-yard dash, for linear acceleration; 30-yard shuttle, for agility; and rotat ional Power Bal l, for upper-body power.

Each Rating provides a window into the athlete’s capacities to meet the physical demands of ‘the fastest game on two feet’. The SPARQ Rating is an objective tool that should be used to inform an athlete’s goal setting for training and to measure the progress of his physical development.

Connecticut Wolfpack / Fairfield Batting Cages

Connecticut Wolfpack / Fairfield Batting Cages

The Batting Cage, a family owned business started in 1997, provides the local community with Connecticut’s premiere baseball training facility. The Batting Cage is home to the CT Wolfpack, the state's top AAU youth baseball program. The Batting Cage is a 13,000 square foot complex which houses six pitching machines for baseball and softball, four “ProBatter” batting cages, and seven full sized artificially turfed training tunnels.

The Connecticut Wolfpack fields teams for ages 9U-17U and has won a total of two AAU National Championships and dozens of state and regional tournaments. During Fall Baseball 2013 our 10U, 13U, 14U, and 15U teams won the East Shore Travel League Championship in New Haven, CT.

The Batting Cage recently added three full sized artificially turfed tunnels, an additionally 4,000 sq. feet of training space. In addition a Wolfpack player/parent only lounge was created which includes: leather couches and chairs, a flat screen TV, desks for players to complete their homework before or after training, and a full sized refrigerator.

The Batting Cage specializes in one-on-one baseball and softball training. We offer hitting, pitching, and defensive lessons incorporating our trademarked teaching style, “Kinetic Load Baseball,” or “KLB.” KLB was designed by The Batting Cage to utilize the most basic laws of physics and apply them into baseball fundamentals and techniques. Our instructors apply KLB to the mechanics of hitting and pitching to help players achieve maximum energy at the point of contact (hitting) or release (pitching). The proven benefits of Kinetic Load Baseball are a more fluid approach to hitting and pitching, consistent hitting power, and improved throwing velocity.

The “ProBatter” machines are used by Major League Baseball teams because they allow players to take live batting practice off of a virtual pitcher. You no longer have to time-up the arm of a traditional pitching machine, and now with our automatic retrieval system, you don’t have to spend time picking up your own baseballs. The Batting Cage provides a real “in game” experience where you can see the ball right from the pitcher’s release point into the hitting zone.

The Batting Cage also offers a large artificially turfed training area used predominately for team workouts and defensive training. The ample open space allows players and teams to take ground balls, throw bullpens, and work on their game year round. We recently added 3 professional clay mounds, using the same material in several Major League Baseball stadiums. This new feature allows players to take live “in game” at-bats. We even have a tee area where players of all ages can work on the fundamentals of their swing. To contact The Batting Cage, call 203-259-2255 or visit our website at
