Dave Robbins MS, CSCS, NASM-CPT, Assistant Training Coordinator and Internship Coordinator drobbins@bluestreakst.com
Dave joined the BlueStreak team in January, 2008. What started as an internship opportunity quickly became a career. Dave was extremely active growing up and decided to focus on soccer and track and field during high school. Dave’s coaches played an integral part in his decision to pursue Exercise Science as a college major. Having coaches that were willing to sit down and explain the science behind each workout gave Dave the drive to learn more.
Dave attended Sacred Heart University and graduated in 2009 with his B.S. in Exercise Science, and again in 2011 with his Masters in Exercise Science and Nutrition. While working on his Master’s, Dave performed an internship in the fall of 2010 at Quinnipiac University working under their Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. At Quinnipiac, Dave worked with Men’s Hockey, Men’s Basketball, Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Field Hockey, Women’s Softball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, as well as their Competitive Cheer team. Here Dave was able to work directly with the head and assistant strength and conditioning coaches to help expand his knowledge on strength training at the Division 1 level.
The following spring semester, Dave had the opportunity to volunteer as the strength and conditioning coach for Sacred Heart University’s Football team during their winter conditioning program and was able to learn from their coaching staff. Dave quickly proved himself and is now the strength and conditioning coach for the Pioneer’s Football and Men’s Lacrosse teams. He is also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart teaching an undergraduate strength and conditioning lab. Here he helps teach students the fundamentals of strength training, proper evaluation and lifting techniques, and prepares them for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification exam through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Dave has been an integral part in BlueStreak’s success over the years and has helped numerous athletes reach their training goals. Dave’s knowledge and experience in the field is something that can only help BlueStreak’s athletes excel. Whether it is running mechanics, strength training, conditioning, or even general fitness, Dave has the knowledge to help athletes from the youth to elite levels.
